Sweet Findings

Hey!

Seriously, today was so windy, my hair was blown in all directions! Definitely not a very good day to wear a skirt or a dress. I hope you've been keeping warm too.

Let's check out this week's sweet findings. Do you love to read? I enjoy reading novels, especially novels that has recipes or anything about food! Though I have not tried the recipes from the books below, I sure enjoy reading them.

1 - Have you read Jenny Colgan's collection? "Meet me at the Cupcake Cafe" or "Welcome to Rosie Hopkins' Sweet Shop of Dreams" or "Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe" ? I love these books. Below you can see she has other titles too. You've got to check it out yourself.

2 - How about Tracy Madison's "A Taste of Magic"? Seriously, I was hooked!

3 - "If only everything in life was as simple as baking a cake...", written by Cathy Woodman; titled "The Sweetest Thing" is another one to read.

4 - How nice it would be if you are part of "The Cookie Club"? Check out this number by Ann Pearlman.

Online Book Shoppers

Hey...it has been a while...sorry...I have been so busy...

I had 2 weddings and a honeymoon to plan and work was keeping me pretty occupied too.

Now that's all over, I'll try and update it more regularly okay...

Anyway, I just wanted to know where do you usually buy your books?

As for me, I usually buy them online, as it is way cheaper than getting it at the bookstore...of course it doesn't include those places that has promotions or discounts from time to time like Basement Bookstore in Central Train Station Sydney.

Before I hit BUY online, I usually check out Booko.com to compare the books prices. Booko, makes it easy for me to see how much the book costs, shipping charges and delivery time frame.

So far, the 2 online sites that I usually use are www.bookdepository.com and www.betterworldbooks.com . I am sure there are plenty of other websites that might be cheaper. But for me to buy books to be shipped to Australia, these would be my 2 recommended ones.

Though, Amazon's prices are cheaper if you live in the UK or US, I would say Amazon would be better. Previously, when Amazon.co.uk used to have this promotion - free shipping to Australia, by spending more than £25, I used to buy my books from them, but I found that my books often arrives a lil' damaged.

Anyway, check Booko out, it definitely saves you time from checking various sites to compare prices if you're buying online.

Did you also know that Bookdepository is having a 50 books, 50 offers, 25 hours promotion now!?

*This is my own opinion, and I am not paid to do this. I just thought, this would come in handy for you online book shoppers!

Have a good weekend!

Oh oh...on another note, I made my hubby a Nutella Cake for his birthday, similar recipe to this here, but I made some changes.

I use my Instagram pretty regularly, follow me if you want - passionatemae

Reading List

What's on your reading list? Are you the type who prefers to have a hardcopy book to flip through recipes and look at photos or you're just happy to browse online?

For me, I prefer to have the actual book to look and flip through.

So, here are just some of the books that I have my eyes on!

Amazon VS BetterWorldBooks

Everyone has heard of AMAZON but have you heard of BETTERWORLDBOOKS?

Better World Books (BWB) also funds Literacy Worldwide. So while you're spending money, you also donate to a good cause :)

So, I placed an order last night for 3 books, and I can't wait for them to arrive :) It'll be here within 7-21 days. Hooray *grins*

Their shipment is FREE of course only WITHIN the US, but it only cost USD$3.97 per item for International Shipment. This is pretty reasonable, as I've done my maths, if I were to use AMAZON to ship my books, no doubt AMAZON's books are slightly cheaper by a few $$ but their International Shipping is a killer, the amount it cost to only ship a book is equivalent to another book :(.

Below is a comparison chart between the two site. This is what I've come up with. If I am wrong, don't be afraid to tell me. But this is what I've experience with the two, it might differ for certain books.

For me, at the end of the day I decided to go with BWB because, despite the fact that Amazon sells cheaper books, but their International Shipping cost is crazy, and it adds to a higher total amount of cost compared to BWB. Where I pay slightly more for their books, while their International Shipping cost is fixed to USD$3.97 per item. That's the normal shipping 2-5 weeks (normally fastest to Australia, Western Europe, Mexico, and Canada).

If you require faster shipment, you just have to pay more, should be around USD$11.97 per item and you'll get it within 6-15 business days Please don't quote me on that, you can be sure by checking out this link.

Anyway, hop over to Better World Books to check it out if you've not already done so. :)

Unless you know a better/cheaper site to buy books, please Share :)
