I think my oven died on me.. :(

Sadly, there's something terribly wrong with my oven.. i think it died on me...

I've been trying to bake, but it just doesn't seem to make my goods bake? Get what I mean??

Like for example, if a recipe says 30 mins to bake, mine takes like 1hour PLUS..this has happened to a few of my goods already..so i know it isn't me who did something wrong...and even after so long my goods still isn't baked properly.. :(

I think the temperature isn't reaching its proper level or there's something wrong with the heating/oven element..

:( i'm so upset because all my effort is wasted..

sighs.

Baking Marathon!! *edited with photos*

Guess what??

I've been baking lately..because I am HOME...and not working, I've got more time on my plate to actually bake..

Anyway, I find that the ingredients here are soooooooooo expensive compared to Aussie land, I guess it is because they import the stuff into the country which makes it...so " mahal"  (expensive). For example, a Double Cream in Coles = $3.xx while here it is RM16!!!! OMG, even with the currency exchange of RM3.1=AUD$1, it is WAY overpriced..

I managed to buy some ingredients and tools from various places, be it from the supermarket, proper baking shops, hypermarket, shopping mall, pretty much just anywhere.

I miss my shopping for my baking stuff in Aussieland :(

So these are the items I've baked since I got home....

Classic Pound Cake - Martha's Recipe
Chocolate Chip Muffins - Nigella's Recipe
Peanut Butter Cookies
Ice-cream Cake  - Nigella's Recipe
Peanut Cookies - Secret Recipe :)
Fudgy Chocolate Brownies - Martha's Recipe

I made Ice Cream Cake for my Brother

Those are the Cupcakes, Fudgy Brownies, Cookies, Pound Cake

I just baked the Brownies, Peanut Butter Cookies and Ice-cream cake, yes all in a night :)

Pictures should be up soon :) Just have no time to load up at the moment, pretty busy..

Merry Xmas is around the corner...I am thinking some ginger bread man, fruit cake, a cake log?? hehe But it sounds a lil' too christmassy doesn't it??

Next on my baking list are

Coffee Walnut Swiss Roll
Japanese Soft Cotton Cheesecake
Cream Puffs
Chocolate Croissant/Butter Croissant/Nuts Croissant

Oreos Cheese Cupcakes

Twister Cupcakes (From photos above)

Should be it for now, some of them might be for this weekend :)

Good Nightt!

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Just the other day, as I was watching Nigella on youtube making Chocolate Chip Muffins, Oh My, I knew I just had to get my hands on them and I was pretty reluctant to buy it from the store. So I decided to bake my own.

This muffins are light and fluffy, though as a Chocolate lover, I would add more chocolate bits in them next time around and probably cut down slightly on the sugar.

This is a recipe by Nigella Feast -Youtube.

You'll need:

Makes 15 muffins
Prep time : 5 mins
Bake time: 20 mins

Dry Ingredients
1 3/4 cups All purpose flour
1 3/4 cups Caster sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp cocoa
3/4 cups of chocolate chips

Stir all Dry ingredients together

Wet Ingredients
1 cup of milk
over 3/4 cup of vegetable oil
1 tsp of vanilla essence
1 egg

Whisk all Wet ingredients together

1) Pour Wet into Dry ingredients - Mix, don't over mix.
2) Fill 3/4 full of muffin cups in tray.
3) Bake in pre-heated over of 200C for 20 minutes.

Enjoy your Muffins! :)

Patisserie of my own (Part 2)

When I read about Peggy Porschen, it daunt on me that if I ever decide to seriously have a life-changing path in my life.....that could be me. Pursuing my passion in becoming a Patisserie Chef :), opening my own Patisserie before I turn 30 years old, that's still at least a few years more to go, which would give me time to gain experience and exposure before I lead my own.

That would be a dream come true wouldn't it?

If you do not know Peggy Porschen, she studied her Pastry course at Le Cordon Bleu, London before opening her own. She has also published a books "Romantic Cakes" and "Pretty Party Cakes". She also created some beautiful pieces for celebrities like Elton John's wife, Stella McCartney, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna. Not only that, her masterpiece have been featured in various magazines too.

You must be thinking how does she relate to what I am going on about...Because here I am, thinking of taking up a Patisserie course from Le Cordon Bleu. So I would have proper fundamentals and therefore hopefully would be on my way to becoming my own Pastry Chef.

Here are some of her masterpiece :)

What are your thoughts?

So, today , I came across this article by Samantha Brett during my lunch break.

It was about rules and regulations between men and women in the dating scene.

My question is this, "Should men pay the bill on the first date?"

There is a lot of controversy on who should do this and that, if you do that, you're blah blah blah, and if you don't, you're blah blah blah...

As for me, I believe that especially on the first date, the guy should be the gentleman and pay for the bill, probably unless the woman was the one who asked the guy out, but yet again, I still believe that the guy should offer to pay it, and pay it. Call me old-fashioned, but I like to be swept of my feet and be the girl in the relationship. As well as there are other times, where the woman can chip in, like buying the pop corns and drinks/snacks when you watch a movie together, though, it doesn't sound as much but it still counts, and contribute to the relationship. I also do believe that there are other things that should be contributed equally between the couple.

I am not trying to start an arguement, but that's just my thoughts. Everyone is different, some women dont mind paying on the first date, some do. I'm not speaking for all women, just mine. As every relationship is different from one another.

I would love to hear your thoughts...

Happy loving :)
